Bike Safe is a charity, established by people who live or work in Eynsham and Botley. We are run entirely by volunteers and have no paid staff – but we are close to our community and we understand why so many people are reluctant to cycle or walk along the B4044 or encourage their children to do so. Over the last 10 years or so we have taken part in dozens of community events and fetes where we have raised awareness of the campaign and built up a supporter base of nearly 2,000 people. Very few of these people would describe themselves as cyclists – in fact, many of them do not cycle often or very far.

But they are people who would like to cycle more. They understand the benefits of cycling (and walking) but they are put off from getting on a bike because the B4044 is seen to be too busy, too narrow and too dangerous.
